The President of the Kurdish-European Society Kahraman Evsen met the Sakharov Prize-winner Lamia Bashar. In August 2014, Nadia Murad and Lamia Bashar had been kidnapped by IS fighters, enslaved and repeatedly raped. Only months later they managed to escape. In the meantime, the two of them live in Germany and are mainly committed to free about 3,000 women who are still in the hands of the terrorist group. For their efforts, the EU Parliament awards the two women with this year’s Sakharov Prize.
